Goddess Laxmi usually is shown on one of 3 vehicles. In her liberal form, Satvik Guna, she goes along with Lord Vishnu on Garuda (Eagle). In her materialistic form, Raja Guna, she is shown with two Elephants on both sides of her. The Owl represents the harmful form of wealth. That is why owl is considered as the sign of sick women or darkness. The Owl also represents knowledge and intellect because of its capability to perceive threatening events, beforehand.

The four arms symbolize the four sides in space and thus represent ubiquity and power of the Goddess Lakshmi. The lotus flower seat on which Parad Goddess Laxmi is sitting indicates that while living in this world, one should get pleasure from its riches, but not become possessed with it. Such a living is similar to a lotus that blooms in water but is not wetted by water.

Since the right portion of the body represents action, a lotus in the back right hand suggests the idea that one must complete all duties in the world in according with dharma. This leads to liberation, which is represented by a lotus flower in the back left hand of Goddess Laxmi. The golden coins pouring on the floor from the front left hand of Goddess Laxmi demonstrate that she gives prosperity and opulence to her devotees.

Goddess Laxmi’s front right hand appears giving blessings upon the devotees. To go hand in hand with Lord Vishnu's act of preservation and protection, Parad Laxmi is the holder of every form of riches. She is the owner of great attractiveness.

In the incarnations of Lord Vishnu, Lakshmi also took different Laxmi aspects to accompany him - Rukmini with Krishna and Sita with Rama. Astha Laxmi is her eight avatars, which are the usually worshipped incarnations. In each aspect, she gives one type of wealth to her shadhakas. There are many prayers and ceremonies, which are performed to raise her blessings.
